JOBS AND
THE ECONOMY
Lower taxes
and interest rates translates to higher disposable
income. Higher disposable income translates to
increased savings and spending which stimulates economic
growth. I will support legislation critical to job
growth:
-
Reducing
tax burdens
-
Streamlining regulations on businesses
-
Establishing and enforcing trade laws that will
restore and protect our manufacturing base
-
Helping
displaced workers find jobs
-
Supporting education programs tailored towards skill
enhancement
-
Supporting research and development into the
development and commercialization of new
technologies
The American
Dream means something different to every person. For
some, it is providing for a family; to others, it may be
the freedom to pursue their personal dreams which may
include (in that process) building an entrepreneurial
enterprise. But, whatever the dream, a stable job with
a livable wage is a prerequisite for all Americans to
experience freedom. When workers become displaced from
a job, they may have difficulty identifying new
opportunities for their skill sets. This would make
reinsertion into the workforce difficult. We should
strive as a a nation to ensure that displaced workers
are assessed and provided with reskilling options so
that they can return to livable wage jobs as quickly as
possible.
Therefore, I
will support legislation that provides reskilling
programs for displaced workers. Those involved in
running these reskilling programs will assess the skill
sets of displaced workers and workplace needs within
their respective regions and help to reskill workers so
as to support the worker requirements of that region.
There are private companies that can provide these
programs and we, as a nation, should support incentives
for companies that are successful at the reintegration
of these workers into the workplace
